Market Trader News – March 2019

Farmers Market

This year we aim to actively promote our Farmers Market at Mansefield Park as well as looking to re-launch the south side Market in Shawlands Square now that the public realm works are near to completion. Due to imminent construction works to redevelop Govan Cross per housing projects, our Govan Retail Market is looking for a new home. Communication with local business(s) and the local Govan Community is ongoing for ideas in order to continue trading in Govan. We are also actively looking at other market ideas and presently have four desk top exercises in hand.

Car Boot Sale

The car boot sale in Blochairn continues to provide valuable service locally and to the wider community. With the development of B&C blocks, cladding of gable walls and ceilings at tunnel area, a new Café and redeveloped public toilets, the car boot will grow from strength to strength with promotions planned to assist.

NABMA

We welcome, in June this year, a presence from the National Association of British Markets Authorities (NABMA) for a one day event here in the wholesale market. This gives Blochairn a tremendous boost nationally. We are also talking with the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) to consider a Markets wide membership to promote ALL business trading in Blochairn, we will keep you advised of this.
